KOKOKO! This project was born while filming the contemporary scene of the Kinshasa underground.The distorted polyrhythms and spontaneous lo-fi sounds of KOKOKO! quickly contributed to establishing the band’s unique musical touch on the international scene.
After five European tours, the collective KOKOKO! returns in a new form for his 2022 tour, representing Kinshasa at night, its rhythmic soundscapes against the background of traffic smoke and generator noises. This time carried by Xavier Thomas alias Débruit, and the performer and self-proclaimed 'lord of ambiance' Makara Bianko, this formula accentuates the fiery zag, a musical genre inspired by infinite electronic loops, distorted by fuming amps and speakers pushed to 200% in support of Makara Bianko’s powerful voice.
The sound layers of instruments that are completely constructed break musical codes and allow access to the sounds of ghetto and downtown clubs. Those of a raw and free modernity, inventing everything from nothing singing the reality of the streets of Kinshasa.
