Unis par un intérêt commun pour l'improvisation libre, les ambiances minimalistes et les mutations extatiques des clubs, Inner Voice Movement explore la volonté partagée par les trois artistes d'explorer des territoires sonores inexplorés et de transcender les limites de ce qu'un spectacle électronique live est censé incarner. Inner Voice Movement peut en effet désigner à la fois un dialogue intérieur permanent et une forme de réharmonisation improvisée dans le jazz, menant à une quête constante des zones intermédiaires. Les caractéristiques individuelles de chaque musicien sont à la fois vives et harmonieusement fusionnées : la conception sonore sculpturale de Mika Oki rencontre le jeu de batterie très expressif, presque rituel, de Sébastien Forrester et l'approche remarquablement polyvalente d'Apulati Bien en matière de production. Ce projet tripartite est profondément exploratoire : abstraction et contemplation, plongée dans la micro-précision de la musique informatique et reproduction des schémas environnementaux organiques figurent parmi les objets d'étude constants des trois artistes.
En tant que power trio, Sébastien Forrester, Mika Oki et Apulati Bien cherchent à jouer avec l'instabilité et l'imprévisibilité, se surprenant mutuellement ainsi que le public, dans un flux constant entre ondes de choc brutalistes, rythmes récursifs et fantaisies ambiantes luxuriantes et occasionnelles.

Unified by a shared interest in free improvisation, sparse atmospherics and rapturous club mutations, Inner Voice Movement explores the three artists’ mutual will to investigate untouched sonic realms and transcend the limitations of what a live electronic act is supposed to embody. Inner Voice Movement can indeed refer to both an ongoing internal mental dialogue and a form of improvised reharmonization in jazz, leading to a constant quest for the regions ‘in between’. Each musician’s individual characteristics are vivid yet naturally merged: Mika Oki’s sculptural sound design meets Sébastien Forrester’s highly expressive, almost ritualistic kind of drumming and Apulati Bien’s strikingly versatile approach to production. The three-headed project is profoundly exploratory - abstraction and contemplation, diving into the micro-precision of computer music and mirroring organic environmental schemes count as some of the three artists’ persistent objects of study.
As a power trio, Sébastien Forrester, Mika Oki & Apulati Bien aim at playing with instability and unpredictability, surprising each other as well as the audience, in constant flux between brutalist shockwaves, recursive rhythms and occasional, lush ambient fantasies.
