FR Malthus est un chanteur, multi-instrumentiste, producteur, réalisateur et chorégraphe originaire de la banlieue de Liverpool. Proche d’Anohni dans la voix et de l’esthétique de l’excitante scène actuelle de Manchester incarnée par Space Afrika, Iceboy Violet, Blackhaine ou encore Rainy Miller, cet artiste complet crée une soul alternative et cinématique entre blues cataclysmique et pièces orchestrales atonales. He credits his working-class upbringing, rave culture and primitivism as strong reference points for his work - utilizing twisted cinematography and disjointed movement direction to construct a surreal audio-visual world. Malthus’ work questions expressions of lust and violence - flipping orchestral and electronic music into expressive, soulful performances that have garnered him international attention. He's an artist from Lancashire, North-West England working with music, film and movement. Fresh off the back of a sold-out debut headline show at The Glove That Fits in London, a main stage performance at Paris’ Ideal Trouble Festival, a headline performance at FOLD London, and the release of his self-directed visual EP “CONVULSIONS” with Hunger Magazine, Malthus is an emerging talent on London’s underground scene. They have performed at FOLD london, The Glove That Fits, ICA London, The Ritz Manchester, Sexkino Roland Zurich, Lazarus London, Nantes University, La Station Gare Des Mines Paris, O.P.Y.U.M festival Paris. and premiered work via BBC6, KCRW, Fact Magazine, Dazed and Confused, Hunger, F-Word, Kaltblut, Fuuuucking Young, Renlisu, Coveal and GATA Magazine. Notable Collaborations include Rick Owens, Blackhaine, Rainy Miller, Charles Jeffrey, Matt Lambert, Tim Walker, Leo Adef. Malthus has also scored fashion films for Armani, Jimmy Choo, Hugo Boss, Carlota Barrera, Luis De Javier, and Absolute Vodka. He is the founder of Littledoom Studio and Littledoom Label, a joint partnership run in collaboration with Sid Quirk and Mercedes666 that acts as both a visual production studio and as a record label, and co-produces London’s biannual LAZARUS parties with Magnus Westwell.
